im just running my mp3's thru MP3Gain to sort out those few overpowering tunes, jw if ther was a set db that tunes get recorded at?

what you are looking for is a Normalizer, lots about, you can set them to anything really, but for the sake of your ears and any sound systems you plug into, i'd recomend not much higher than -1.5db, allot you will find at -0.5db or -1db, that annoys the hell out of me tbh, but usually coz they've also had all the dynamics squashed the fuk out of them pfft
