    Interesting forthcoming films there...

Shadow you're obviously quite clued up about films but that Adulthood movie you were hyping up is utter bollocks. As is Kidulthood, they should be banished from our screens.

Just my opinion most of these films look shite - sequels to films which weren't good in the first place, but did OK at the cinema as there's fuck all else coming out ATM except other sequels and remakes of 70's and 80's films and TV shows...

    I mean c'mon Terminator 4????

It used to be that when a film franchise went shite they'd stop making them, but the money makes sense these days...

    Here's how it works:
    1. You film a movie with a large budget & big stars
    2. You film a sequel, doesn't bring in much less, but you spent way less on making it
    3. You film another sequel, big name stars are starting to get hard to book, you go ahead with unknowns, spend way, way less budget, so you still get a good return on your dollar

They keep going until the budget is a fraction of the origional, and the film itself is starting to look like a lame parody of itself, nobody has ever heard of any of the actors, people go see it anyway as it's the next installment of the franchise that they've seen 3 times already...

Basically, often these days studios will keep making sequels not because there's demand, or because they can do it justice, but because they can still make a good margin and take less risk than trying to put out a new origional film...

Obviously there are some exceptions - Some films (e.g. Transporter) never had any A list actors in anyway, so the lead actor is happy to return...

Some films have excellent Quality sequels - Godfather, Jaws (up to a point), Back to the future, Alien but these were all years ago when this diminishing returns mentality didn't exist, back then they only did it if they thought they had a good script...

There's modern day exceptions too, but there's reasons why they're exceptions - Lord of the Rings (not technically sequels, they are next intallments in a series of books which were all filmed at the same time with no break in production), Harry Potter (again, next installments in a series of books, there are breaks in production, and the screenplay has to be adapted from the book each time, but they don't have to come up with a new origional story each time).

Basically I'm sick of the shit coming out of hollywood right now, we need some fresh writing talent to come through!!!

    Rant Over :)

Crank was wicked, Ive got the worlds shortest attention span so it was right up my street!

Apart from F&F4 (which is another brain-switch-off affair), none of the rest of that list appeals to me

And everyone has had the "debate" about sequels being worse than the original....
