I always thought that your lead synth has to be in mono, because having a stereo separation on it might get in the way of other instruments like harmonics and stuff. I might be crazy for thinking this, but what do you think?

Usually low end in mono, and mids and highs in stereo.

But then again, if it sounds good then do it!

Depends on where the frequency peak is within your sound? Only things that should always be in mono are the sub bass, and maybe the kick.

Ive always been taught anything below 240hz should be in mono.. after that do whatever. I use a Mono maker on the Master bus and then just make everything in stereo

I dont know why, but I have come to Having the Bass(upto 200ish), Kick and Snare in Mono. Happy with those elements coming down the middle of the sound anyways, send the snare to some reverb if it needs and spacing out.
