Ez all.

Had a problem come up with my mixer (Vestax VMC 185-XL)..

The right channel only plays out of the left speaker, to get it to play it out of both you have to push it up to the top of the channel fader. Which is quite hard to do whilst mixing!

Anyone got any ideas? Hoping this isn't going to rape my wallet!!!

Sounds like dodgey fader then, try swapping the decks and cables over to the opposite channels, if its still doing the same thing on the same channel then its that fader. Have a look on the vestax site and see if its a replaceable part.

^^^^ Agreed. For a temporary solution try blowing the fader out with a can of compressed air.

Tried swapping it all around, still shitty.

Will check out replacement faders.. Can i refit it myself if i thats the case? Is there any soldering or anything as i suck at stuff like that lol

Just clarifying this will work?

£55 .. for fucks sake.

If thats the name of your mixer then yea thats your part, just double check its actualy your fader thats the problem (sounds like it is). Not sure if it'll require soldering in, if it does it wont be anything silly.

Have a look around though, dont just go throwing money at HTFR, theres probably somewhere else that'll have one.

What have you got to lose really, contact spray may work but it'll still be really temperamental and just piss you off. If you really are a cheap skate you could just use the middle fader for a while and leave the CDJ for a bit.

Anyone used 'contact spray'? Mate has recommended it as he had a similar problem. Do you think it will work? Worth buying i guess before spending 55quid on a new fader!

i've recommended this stuff loads of times. Servisol spray.

theres a yellow one worth searching for as well. contact cleaner. kinda works like compressed air. use that, then use the red one.

carbon build up on faders causes this sorta problem.

Right i got some 'Switch cleaning lubricant' from my local record shop, dont absolutely buggar all. Just sprayed it like fuck into the gap in the fader though as dont trust my self taking it apart.

If it hasnt done anything, is that stuff you posted likely to??

EDIT:

Its the exact same as the red one you posted.. http://www.htfr.com/more-info/MR47471

just spraying it into the gap wont do anything. You have to take the fader apart. Its not difficult.

Here is a good guide on how to clean Vestax crossfaders. http://www.djforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=91705
Input faders might be slightly different, but should be pretty easy.
