Right I have a vestax vmc 002 mixer and I have been having some problems with it recently. The left channel is only plaing out of the left speaker and the right one both. When I flick the line/phono switch for the left channel it switches to the right channel. Same with the headphone fader for the left deck I get sound out of the left headphone etc.

I thought I would get a different mixer to test it out and I purchased a vestax pcv 002. I get similar problems such as the crossfader plays the left deck permanantly and I get sound out of the left speaker for the left channel etc.

Could it be my amp that is buggered or could it be coincidence that both mixers are buggered at the same time?

Any advice would be appreciated.

In both cases it sounds very much like you've plugged your sources (turntables / CDJs / whatever) into the wrong inputs. Check that your cables are plugged into the right places, post up a photo if you're not sure

The plugs have to go in side by side, not one above the other like on many mixers. The Phono input is on the bottom, the Line input on the top:

I had been doing it on the bottom left and right inputs and the red and white leads out of my technics are clearly going to the right inputs. On the pcv002 I wasn't sure which colour went where as the inputs aren't colour coded but you can tell from my amplifier and I know I had them in the right inputs.

I will try and get a photo later and post it up

Swap the two inputs from the decks around and see what happens. This way you can work out if it's your mixer, decks or cables.

Sounds like a lot of dust fuckin up the variable resistor pots under the knob. Good old remove cover jobby and get an air line and blast the shit out of it lol! Bit of maintence usually works :)
