just found this next article on him....

    http://www.metroactive.com/papers/metro/01.20.00/goldie-0003.html

I quote "WITH HIS LATEST two-CD mix album, Goldie all but announces that drum 'n' bass, the genre he helped create, is dead."

This is a proper exageration of his comments..... how do i complain??... not down with this shit.....

it was written in 2000.... what a cheek! Feel pretty damn agro that a journalist can write this and get away with it..... surely your not aloud to asume anything in journalism without stating you asuming it...... especially when aparently quoting someone else...

OK, I live in Silicon Valley, and I can surely say that Metro is shit. It's just a weekly mag with pretentious reviews on the arts with decent listings and the occasional hilarious column by Seanbaby....that's it...it's nothing special, and it's a free distribution...

That article on Goldie is from someone with no clue on the DnB scene or even what the music entails. I can assure you no one batted an eye at what was written... The article is completely pretentious, as if San Jose at the time even had a DnB scene! It didn't even exist until a few years later when some college boys from San Jose State started doing bi-weekly gigs at the local club scene and claiming it was the "scene" lol...

It's a damn shame someone wrote that crap especially since San Jose (aka Silicon Valley) is where a lot of shit happens technology wise. Anyway, I was pissed when I read this:

Goldie seems to know this. On his last album, Saturnzreturn (also a double-disc set) he tried to push the genre forward with "Mother," an epic one-hour symphony of Oedipal pain. But "Mother," although it boasted some truly stirring, powerful moments, was unquestionably pretentious, and it was largely unplayed by fans and derided by critics.

What load of crap. Anyone who has ever heard Mother (or had the attention span to do so) knows that is one of the most historic piece of work for the Drum and Bass scene.
