London dial technician Merka has made some heavy beats, but this LP is something else. It doesn’t posture with false street attitude. Impressive skills instead. With anthemic intros that break down into what you’d expect to be another nihilistic sub lo rumbler instead break out into funked up tracks that will literally make someone’s night. With influences being happily paraded along too, you get a hint of hip hop cutting on “Champion Selection” before it gets all James Brown in a funky Hardcore breaks stylee. The promo sheet may have made no sense whatever, the writer obviously intoxicated off Merka’s heady musical vapours. I’ll let them off, this LP is a proper groundbreaker. Who won’t feel slightly giddy after hearing it for the first time? You know what I am going to get myself up to a Fat! Night for a slice of the action first hand!!
