What do you think of Mc's? Do you think they make a set or spoil a set?

    Depends on the MC...

& the place. @ most raves u need MCs, and most clubbers expect em & want em.

I like to have some time without them, especially at the start of the night to let the atmosphere settle in.

    I say yes.
As long as they are trying to compliment the music and not over-power it.
Some M.C's make truly awful mistakes like chatting over vocals and giving endless boring shout-outs - they deserve their mics turned off.
At a party in particular i reckon you need a crowd hyper with good stage presence.
    So overall i say Yes!

yes I agree I am in the category who enjoy MCs , but it seems the majority of them aren't that good. If you can pick and choose ....:rave:

altogether no. I'm a fan of the music, not the MC who normally talks bollocks.

MCs are muther fucking bastards! KILL THEM!

    KILL THEM ALL!

KILL THEM ALL THEN STRING UP THEIR INTESTINES SO THE CROWS CAN GO TO WORK!!!

    No wait...

RIP OUT THEIR INTESTINES WHILE THEY ARE STILL ALIVE AND THEN LET THE CROWS GO TO WORK WHILE ANGRY RAVERS THROW STONES AT THEM!

    YES YES!

The only MCs that should be spared in the MC HOLOCAUST will be those on 1992's LIST! So far three have been saved:

    MAD P
    LONG JOHN
    MC CONRAD

(of course I'm j/king as I don't believe in capital punishment. Then again MCs are worse then US presidents who go to war for oil money, worse then towelbans, worse then serial killers, worse then hitler, worse then gay bashers like Logiks... So maybe I might change my mind.)

totally depends i mean at big events u need emcees to hold down the venue with 1000s of ravers u need someone on stage getting ppl united for example ecskman gq however u can get that breed of emcee that deserve to die very painfull deaths like at the brixton b2b special there was emcee shouting why isnt he picking up the phone over tc wheres my money i swear to god i wanted to hit him with something blunt until he stopped moving

my fav emcee atm is probably mc sp maybe because i he remids me of tge garage artist of l8te

I believe that MC's should be given alot more credit than the get, the good ones that is. I've had someone try tell me once that MC's are just ppl that can't DJ and want to be in the scene! At the end of the day, good mc's (Eksman for example) have a talent that can't be learnt. Where as on the other hand mixing can be learnt with enough time. Obviously theres DJ's out there that have a talent for mixing too and can do things on the decks that cant be learnt and their normally the ones that make it big!

The only thing i dnt like about mc's is when they try control the music... specifically TELLING the DJ to pull up a tune. As long as they remember there place and thats as a crowd pleaser then i believe there a valued part of a set!

And no offence SIRUS but i believe MC's like Bass-man are crap! No lyrically talent what so ever!

Can't believe there isnt any respect going to the late hyper D.

The majority of mc's are worth going to see live, no doubt. You cant beat witnessing ppl like skibba, eks and shabba doing there thing.

It annoys me when mc's like bassman emcee over another mc. Bass does it to foxy all the time and it must piss him off.

Theres no doubt there can be dnb without emeeing but not the other way round. But they do bring something special to live events. Shabs and Skibs did a set at Global 05 with Zinc which was out of this world

    RIP Hyper D

MCing can't be learnt but DJing can?

Bollocks. 5% talent, 95% perspiration. You need the talent to make it big but that's the same for djs and for mcs.

There are plenty of crap MCs and DJs who shouldn't be doing what they're doing.

As for MCs... what I really like is when they chat over spoken intros, telling the crowd ten times in a row what their name is and then when they talk over ragga verses and choruses.

Nothing beats hearing a 'good' MC talk over Tenor Fly in Tarantula.

Except a MC singing along to Timeless.
