haha yeah man mampi swift basses, the age old question. how the hell did he do that?
some people maintain mampis tunes were the most awfully engineered tunes ever, and i still dont understand how you could think so. its an awersome sound and it is of course intentional.

i think the key is irreverent processing, you can tell mampi didnt think it was there until he maxed out all knobs and ran the levels red hot.

so the bass in hi tek obviously has a lot of resonance on there, and lots of distortion.
i dont think hes split the frequencies on it, sounds more like just the one instance.
should be pretty easy to make, come to think of it. no?
its also to do with the whole context of the tune, his entire sound is gravely overdriven

if uve seen the innovation in the dam mampi interview, he says since his 'come back' hes goin in the studio with an idea of what he wants to make and executing it. rather than twisting knobs and seeing what happens...

very true

I Love Black River & Rebirth..

the way they roll and shit........ some seriay bass a gwarn on those tracks

discussion on how to acheive similar results please. heaps of chorus and overdrive on everything, get that warmth going

shoot i just read on DOA hes losing his hearing and this is why you dont get him that much these days. think thats true?

thats rumour has been going round for about 2-3 years now.

he is still doing loads of raves around the country...i just wish he would stop clashing his mixes so much. my heart sinks a little bit everytime when i hear a recent mampi mix, as he used to be my favourite dj by a mile

yeah again i refer to the dam interview. lol he sed 'stuffs been goin on in the last year that makes him not even wanna leave the house, let alone play out'

mayb tht wht he was talkin about...

ive heard that as well, so more than likely its true!

n chorus? really, i just been using overdrive, and then equing, then sampling and repeating

come up wih a nice noise, not the same tho at all, or not really even near, but have a listen, i used it in this track

thats cool, sounds a lot like youre on the right way, you just need that real dirt on there and youll be all set.

if youre software only, get morgana as sampler, get an impulse response vst (like SiR) and get the robert babic impulses, get PSP vintage warmer, basically any vst what says tube/tape/valve/warmth, and as you noticed the source for the actual synth or drum sound matters less than the processing it will go through for this sound

ok i think i got it now, mind you, this is just me brainstorming, its highly conceptual:

morgana could possibly be replaced by timemachine and ferox
http://www.jeroenbreebaart.com/audio_vst.htm

SiR v1.x is freeware
http://www.knufinke.de/sir/sir1.html

and so are the the robert babic impulses
http://www.robertbabicz.de/page16/page16.html

SiR is really for reverbs but these impulses is for the signal coloration of really high end desks and compressors, so as to get more grime in there

instead of PSP vintage warmer 'warmth' you could get tube baby which is free or the
preamp emulator (they dont have compression or anything)

or the atomsplitter one
