In the two years it’s taken moombahton to progress from a house party in Washington to its current status as the defining sound of the global dance music scene in 2012, one key ingredient has been curiously absent: a key presence in London’s clubland. That is until now. With this seemingly unstoppable tropical sound - one part latin rhythms, one part Dutch house, 100% dancefloor dynamite - about to take its Dionysian fiesta-moshpit party scenes onto festival circuit, London is about to gatecrash the party and lead the charge into the Summer of Moombahton – and in huge fashion with the announcement of the launch of MOOMBAH LDN, debuting at Hidden in Vauxhall on April 20th.
MOOMBAH LDN have teamed up with Diplo's label MAD DECENT to bring MUNCHI, moombahton’s most prodigious talent, to the capital for the launch of his highly anticipated Moombahtonista EP. With his instinctive and distinctive productions, which effortlessly blur genre boundaries and bring global sounds together in the most astonishing, dancefloor-friendly way imaginable, this 22-year-old Rotterdam kid is at the forefront of this new style – and is also one of the most in-demand DJs, too.
But that’s not even close to being it. April’s Moombah LDN will also see the long-awaited appearance of Dave Nada, the already-legendary Washington DJ and producer who kicked off this whole scene by forging the link between house and reggaeton. Along with Matt Nordtrom, the pair form NADASTROM, and fresh from touring with Grammy-toting dubstep behemoth Skrillex, they’ll be bringing their full arsenal of party weapons on April 20th.
You want more? How about the presence on the bill of virtually the entire UK scene, including SMUTLEE, the UK moombahton trailblazer? How about Nasty FM’s SARAH YOUNG, whose Moombahton Queen CD for WesC has taken this new sound out of its backwater and into the public consciousness? How about FERAL, best known as MC KINKY, the legendary ragga vocalist who’s now more in demand than ever? Spicing it up a bit will be Rinse FM's very own MONKI with her take on Reggaeton and Global Bass. We also have Twisted Desire, a hugely talented dance troop upping the vibes in room 1!
Room 2 will see one of the hottest UK record labels in the Moombahton scene, Scold Recordings taking over. With GEEK BOY, DISGRACELAND and HEISENBERG pushing the boundaries along with ESSBEEDEE who has just seen a release on Rot10 Musik, you know where to come and see what the UK has to offer!
Room 3 will be taken over by The KOOL KIDS KLUB to keep the party going where ever you are in the club!
