Following on from Fire Starters Trick Shot thread, it reminded me of these...

Now some will find this intolerably geeky (if you haven't seen them already), which is fair enough, cus' in essence they're exactly that...

But when I was 1st showed these I got addicted...

Spent alot of University hours, high as a kite on Speed trying to construct my own. (unsuccessfully)

Anyway, the man behind the best ones (imo) is a chappie called Rube Goldberg & this is dubbed his finest creation:

This wasn't made by Rube Goldberg; any of these machines can be called a Rube Goldberg machine. He invented the concept years ago and died in the 70s.

Another example of a useless machine... the "leave me alone box"...

    Oh seen... :2thumbs:

I have to say, I really wanted to read into the history a bit more, but couldn't be bothered at the time & am too busy now.

I'm gonna make an effort to read up, cus' I find these things entertaining & clever as hell in a really boring way if you know what I mean lol...

Na if you look to the right of the board, the ball sets off a string pulley that I imagine pulls the magnets accordingly underneath?
