I am currently developing a project. Its called Night Hype.

It was basically born from when i turned 18, i searched high and low for an event on the 18th of october (my bday) for drum and bass and/or dubstep.

I didnt find anything :( And just went to pub and had a pretty shitty birthday.
Its basically designed for when you think "im going up north this weekend, anything good going on?" or "my birthdays on 17th jan, what kinda dnb events are going on near us?" etc.

Here is my website

If you want to test it out. Select 7th jan and hit drum and bass and then search.
(Only event there at the mo)

I need to make a lot of changes to it (including removing the other genres, this is dnb and dubstep only ;D). Im also going to allow the submitter to include links to facebook event pages and their site or a ticket site.

One thing i want is to get the list of cities down, its too cluttered.

WHAT I WANT FROM YOU!
EDIT: I have now changed it so we have South East, Cnetral London etc.

Ive got big plans for it, including facebook integration and a thumbs up kinda thing (kinda like what they use on www.digg.com )

What ideas would you like to see in there? Lemme know! Im all ears. I want this to be as much community built as possible.

Also just some general feedback on the idea would be good. If you all hate it, then not much point in me carrying on working on it, haha.

ALSO!

Feel free to submit any events in your local area, ones that you are running, dj'ing at, going to, interested in or whatever.
Could be a good bit of free promotion for you :) If you submit an event, it'll be approved asap as long as i can find legit details online about it so its not a scam or anything, haha.

And any idea's, suggestions or improvements. Im all ears :)
This will be COMPLETELY free, and exclusively for dudes/dudettes like you :)

Yeah im currently changing it, im doing like "London" "Essex" etc, instead of all the individual things, as it seems pointless. haha.

EDIT: Decided to do it by south east, northern ireland etc. :0 Updated now :).

Nice idea Dedbult! I know jack shit about creating websites but my suggestion would be you need to revamp the front page looks wise...pretty colours...funky looking design etc...leave the regional categories alone coz that's how we're used to searching for things. Also include an 'other' box for musical styles in case of reggae/hardcore/breaks random goodness. If you could get it up and running it'd be nice if you attached it to a site like this so us lazy people wouldnt have far to look...

I would try and find out why this calendar of events has collapsed http://www.breakbeat.co.uk/events/ coz I'm sure you could do with avoiding whatever trap they've fallen down. Wish this recession would go away coz there arent as many fat events as there used to be!

Hmm, could be right about the home page, i did want to pimp it out a bit, but websites get severely slow if even with a few images, lol. And i wanted it to be easily viewable on mobile devices. Might just pimp it out and create a mobile version seperately.
I would still make it relatively simple though as id quite like it to be like "what can we do on friday?" "2 secs i'll check nighthype" kinda thing.
Might revamp it a bit tomorow after work, and after ive submitted my entry for the dnbforum mix. lol
Cheers for the feedback guys.

And if any mods or admins are game, i'd 100% be up for some collaboration.
Im trying to run the site 100% free to the user and completly ad free, so maybe if the admins are feeling nice they could host nighthype on their server *angelic smile* lol. Although i got no issue with incurring costs at all.

Im a tough soul, i can take criticism, any negative stuff people have got to say, im all ears =)

What id like is for people to list some cities/counties etc that have regular/good drum and bass or dubstep nights :)

are you sure you want to go international?

Also include an 'other' box for musical styles in case of reggae/hardcore/breaks random goodness.

this. the more genres you have available, the more traffic you will get.

ok, only cos you said this...

i think you need to alter your intro a bit. you need to make it less about you and more about the person using the site. people are selfish and quick to judge, they want to know what you can offer them.

Night Hype is the only website dedicated to organising yourDrum & Bass and Dubstep nights! Night Hype was born when the creator was in need of a night out, him and his friends wanted to find a club on short notice in South East London playing hard dubstep/drum and bass, after hours of fruitless searching, he gave up, and spent the night in. He then vowed that no one should have to go through the same ordeal, so Night Hype was born!

imo i would edit the 'he' out of this text, and make it more about 'you' (the reader) if you know what i mean. like you did with the first line.

Notice the lack of n R? Says Counties matey, lol. ;).

Yeah, thats a very good point, i dont want too many though as it wont be like a specialist kind of site. I started off developing it with Trance, Drum aznd Bass, House, Techno, Metal, Rock, RnB etc, then realised i dont want to. haha.

Advice well taken about about about the home page text. Cheers bro.

ohhhh counties!!! haha we dont have counties here so its not a word im used to seeing :D

get on facebook and hunt down any nights you can on there. ie in hull we have dust and shinobi as the main two dnb nights. find people that know about the whens are wheres so you can get it linked to your website - get a list of people on here if you can, ask them to update you on certain nights - i guess a lot of people on here help run the more local nights and so on
