Only Joking! You're better off with a mixer that does this for you

yup BPM readers dont work for DNB.

Why'd ya wanna use it though? just learn how to mix without one cause if you ever play out in clubs they dont have BPM readers in there ;)

Get a mixer that does BPM. Mine has these tap buttons so you can manually tap the beat. Can also do DnB by just cutting the beat.
Used them before i learnt how to mix but now theyre just waste of time. :uberlaugh

there are heaps of programs that will give you the bpm of music you are creatin in the program. There are also specific bpm counting programs. In fact if i am not mistaken someone released one recently called BPM. Sorry, but i cant be arsed flipping through my magazines to find out who.
correct me if i am wrong here, but dont you feel a mix cd should represent your actual skill? doesnt it kinda seem a bit flakey? As SDM says 'sounds like cheating.'

I think probably the best thing it get is a metronome - it will click every beat at a given tempo and you can use it as a guide when mixing your records...... ask in any guitar or general music shop they'll have a reasonably cheap one for sure...

The conventional wisdom is that counter don't work with DNB. No software or stand alone hardware (i.e. Gray BPM counter - works fine with house though) that I've seen can cope with DNB (especially not Traktor 2.5).

Funny thing I've noticed is that the Axis 8 and 9 cd players can count DNB (most of the time - sometimes they go crazy but you can fix them manually by hitting a counter key).

Weird thing is that they count half - i.e. the readings are 85 bpm instead of 170. Must be something to do with the breakbeats.

But if you match up the readings on two tracks and players, they're almost beatmatched. Almost..., good enough for a couple of bars but you do have to train your ears and can't rely on hardware do it for you and work to keep the tracks in sync. Or you get beat beat beat double double double crash crashy crap...

That is unless you're playing house or put one track on a loop.
