Is there a basic workflow to layering kicks/snare hits?
i.e find one with good bass tones, one with good mid tones and one with good treble tones, then EQ out other unwanted frequencies, then compress and bounce?
How harsh does the EQ cut look on average?
Here I have an 808 kick, a fullish kick and a mid heavy one mixed, and three snares but I'm not getting what I'm after. (No compression, No EQ, Not bounced yet though)
Could be just practice and trying combinations but if I could get any pointers that would be great.
Also are bus's just triggers that don't play a sound? What's their purpose?
Cheers,
