Hey lads, after DJing for a while, I've decided to try and turn my hand to production. Off various reccomendations i've invested in Z3ta+ with SONAR LE and am familiarising myself with them. The only problem is im not sure where to get good samples (drums especially) for Drum and Bass, as the drums on z3ta+ sound a bit rubbish. Any help would be awesome

If you guys have got any tips of tutorials for me, i'd massively appreciate it as well

Thanks in advance

Go on primeloops.com and download a few sample packs. Cut up some of the loops into single hits. they're pre processed obviously but you can get some really killer hits from there. Plus, they're free!

Try and get massive if you can too. Its Massive!

Have a snoop around for some free sample packs! I've found some great samples on this forum as well as similar forums (dubstepforum.com is a great one for getting samples from).

Here's a few recommendation:

http://www.boyinaband.com/2009/06/free-sample-pack-30-frickin-ace-drum-and-bass-samples/ (boyinaband drum & bass single hit samples)

http://www.boyinaband.com/2008/10/awesome-free-dubstep-samples/ (boyinaband dubstep single hit samples.. the drums might not be as suitable but there's some nice claps and glitchy effects you might find useful)

http://www.darkbeats.com/sampleswap/Collected Amen Breaks as DrRex.rar (a collection of various amen breaks from between 104 BPM - 190 BPM, all sound very crisp and snappy!)

Hope this gets you started.

In terms of the producer packs you can buy, the drum & bass loop pack from primeloops.com is a load of shit if you ask me.. the samples are good quality, don't get me wrong, but I just struggle to find any use for them. But maybe that's just me.

And if you're not worried about pirating and stuff like that you could get the vengeance packs from any decent torrent website, which is 4 gig's worth of samples on just about anything you'll need in music production.. although I won't post a link as I'm not sure what the rules are on it.
