Laptop charger feedback

I've been having all sorts of feedback problems between my monitors and desktop. Lots of people assumed I have a laptop and have suggested unplugging the charger to get rid of the feedback. Obviously I can't do that because my computer will not work and that's not a long-term solution for you! I use speech recognition software and the guys who run that forum (one of whom used to run a music studio) have advised getting a ground loop isolator so I have just ordered an ART DTI.

ground loop isolators have worked for some people in the past

One of these?

Not too sure where I would go about connecting it if so! Nice one Teddy

i think so muzza. i needed one for a car stereo once but never to record mixes.

as per my understanding the power from the charging is interfering and creating a buzzing noise.
if you use one of those you could.. i think anyway...
plug this into back of your mixer

the end of that cable in the ground loop isolator

then from ground loop into line in using http://www.harriscomm.com/media/cat...5d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/h/c/hc-ir2012rca_1_1.jpg
or even one of these (about £20) http://www.behringer.com/assets/UCA202_P0484_FrontPerspective_XL.jpg

you probably want much shorter cables tho.

i take it everything is fine when the charger is not plugged in ?

That seems to be a great solution when it comes to recording so thanks man.

Difficult to see a way I can use it for when i'm not recording though. Unless I run a phono cable out my master, into the isolator, then back in to the mixer as an input? Is that possible do you think?

ahhh.... ok so your using a dvs and getting feedback through your speakers right?

Yea I had this issue for months and was recently told by a technician at work that it's because the sound parts in a laptop are not grounded so you need to use a ground isolator available in somewhere like maplins, haven't tried it yet tho.
