www.koollondon.com will be broadcasting live from the Royal Academy of Arts – The RA Schools Show 2013 from Wednesday 19th June until Sunday 30th June from 10am-6pm daily.
On Tuesday 18th June from 10am-2pm, Brockie will be doing the opening show and then from 5.30pm-8.30, Brockie, Funky Flirt and guests will be live. Tuesday 18th is not open to the public.
The RA Schools Show is the annual graduation exhibition for a new generation of international artists. The historic studios, situated in Burlington Gardens, are transformed into gallery spaces, offering the public an opportunity to experience a little seen part of the RA.
The class of 2013 follow in the footsteps of JMW Turner, John Constable and John Hoyland – with more recent graduates including Matthew Darbyshire, Catherine Story and Turner Prize nominee Lynette Yiadom-Boakye.
The RA Schools support a broad range of contemporary art practice, and visitors can expect to see work that includes painting, sculpture, performance, video and digital media. Many of the works in the exhibition are available to buy, with proceeds helping to assist the production of future work.
The Schools occupy a unique position in being the only contemporary art school to offer a three-year postgraduate course. Lectures and tutorials are given by leading figures in the art world, including Royal Academicians such as Tracey Emin, Fiona Rae, Grayson Perry and Richard Wilson.
The RA Schools Show will feature the work of 17 third-year students, from the UK, Germany and Singapore: Charlie Billingham, Adham Faramawy, Stephen Forge, Joe Frazer, Bradley Grievson, Nancy Milner, Michael O’Reilly, Tom Owen, Eddie Peake, Tim Pratt, Mary Ramsden, James Robertson, Prem Sahib, Sarah Shoughi, Marie von Heyl, Amy Woodward and Esther Yuan.
