COVER STARS: DRUMSOUND & BASSLINE SMITH
Drumsound & Bassline Smith's Technique label is celebrating ten years in the game in 2009 so what better way to start it off than to look at their past, present and future. After a short drive up the M1 to their hometown of Derby we met Simon, Ben and Andy at The Royal, the new venue where they hold their monthly club night, and got straight down to business…

FEATURES
The Sewerside Chronicles: Delving deep into the world of provincial raves, Tim Lay's debut novel, The Sewerside Chronicles, follows party promoter Che Capri and his loyal crew. Navigating through Devon's turn-of-the-Millennium underground scene, running parallel to the revelling is the tale of Capri's failing alternative clothing business, Sewerside. As Lay explains, it was an opportunity to divert drum & bass-featuring fiction away from urban settings and highlight the action in Britain's less-discussed rural areas. We also have a two page extract from the book.

House In The Jungle: Whilst “house and techno” may have replaced “drum & bass” as club-land's buzzwords, no bad feeling exists between these genres. In contrast to drum & bass' reactionary rivalry to the sickly-sweet garage of the late '90s, D&B currently enjoys a symbiotic relationship with “four-to-the-floor”; its resurgence buoyed by a steady stream of tracks arranged in 4/4 patterns from the likes of Sub Focus and DJ Fresh. Kmag asked the drum & bass scene's major players about their opinion on the relationship between house, techno and drum & bass.

Horizons Music: The Horizons Music Group may be young in record label years but now three years old, this toddler is well and truly up and running. Horizons boss Neil Monteiro discusses his Internal Affairs…

MC Wrec: You probably know MC Wrec from his appearances in clubs all over the world, or from his time as part of the London Elektricity live show or maybe even some of the hip hop tunes he's released, but did you know he also fronts his own artist management company that's making serious waves in the music industry?

Instra:mental: A two-man protest at the higher end of drum & bass's beats per minute range, South West London's Instra:mental are finally gearing up for one of the more anticipated debut albums in recent years. The pair - Alex Green and Damon Kirkham, aka Al Bleek and Kid Drama - speak to us from their studio, ensconced on a dilapidated island in the middle of the River Thames…
