or load it into FL sclicex, click on "tools" and then on "dump score to piano roll"

done. pretty accurate aswell.

If your using logic I always use tuner plug-in. Tells you the note of what is is playing through that channel.
 
"Mixed in Key" (dj software) can find the "key" of the piece without having to click through and figure out all the notes.

^groelle, had no idea! will definitely try that now.

^logikz, no midi output. you can set loops and click on the internal keyboard though. here's the faq for it.

you basically "click" through your sample and it tries to give you the notes that are visually displayed as "peaks" above a keyboard.
