Hey guys, as always, when it comes to a new release on Detached Audio, it's my duty to post it up here for everyone to enjoy.

This time it's a bit personal, as it's my debut EP, first time I've properly done a fully solo project so it holds a special place for me.
Would love to hear what people's favourites are, any feedback (mixdown tips are seriously appreciated)

Buy the EP here if you like it (do buy it, my shoes got wet in the rain and I need new ones pls :teeth: ) - https://detachedaudio.bandcamp.com/album/starscape

1) Starscape

2) Écarlate

3) In The Lakes

4) Starscape (Reprise)

5) Depths

6) The Idealist

7) Starscape (MUDAZE Remix)

hey man, only got a bit of time at the moment but the vibe and music on starscape is really really nice. proper vibes.

there is a slight issue with the mixdown of the drums in that I think the kick is a bit low heavy and the drums are a bit crashy... but that could be personal preference. the main thing for me is you're writing very well put together songs and music, the mix downs will improve as you go along. just out of interest what are you mixing on, do you have any acoustic treatment etc?

Hey man, really glad to hear you like the vibes on the EP, been meaning to PM you regarding something else actually.

I didn't have much while making this EP, I was relying on these cheap headphones from Audio-Technica - http://sea.audio-technica.com/products/headphones/lifestyle/all-earphones/ath-ck330is
Actually bought them in Sainsburys

In terms of a studio set up, all I have is my laptop, those headphones (although I've upgraded to proper headphones now), and just in house FL Studio plugins, no real speakers to test out tunes yet.

ah damn man, well that sort of explains it I think...

I think once you have a set of speakers or some higher end headphones you will be sorted. If I had the same headphones I could hear how it sounded your end :)

I think you have a good final product especially considering all made on headphones :)

Yeah, I've come to realise that I'm quite restricted with that since I don't have anything to properly check my mixes on, don't really have much of a studio space to produce either without disturbing people :P

It's good to know despite the mixdowns, the tracks are still enjoyable from a vibes perspective, thanks bro. :)

no problem, for the record, the mixdown isnt bad enough to ruin the tune at all. Just can hear the potential if it had the crispest of mixdowns!

And I feel you on the disturbing, I'm lucky at the moment but the last place I lived I had that problem.

Gotcha there, I'll try and look into ways to better my mixes with the new headphones I have now, having a better place to produce right now is pretty difficult haha. But cheers for the advice man, I'm gonna PM you some bits later in the week! :)

really like the piano, feel the drums could use work, kick is boomy and snare is a bit thin. musical arangement is fantastic

Thanks for listening bro, really glad to hear you like the arrangements! As for drums, duly noted, think I need to start layering some snares more as well around that frequency. :)
