    Hi DNBForum,

So it's come to a time where I'm looking to upgrade my studio monitors. I've had some old HIFI Warfedale monitors which was to kick start my productions off for the past 2 years and its done me pretty well. But I need something more powerful and reliable for accurate mixdowns. What do I go for? JBL LSR 305 or Yamaha HS5?

Firstly, I was referred to the Yamaha HS5's a real nice flat sounding monitor with nice brightness in the high end. The problem with this speaker so I hear is that it lacks a little bit of low end. I then came across this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9oFwIyxSKjY) which compares Yamaha HS5, KRK Rokit 5's and JBL LSR 305's. The JBL monitors have better specs than the Yamahas, and apparently have that low end that I want without it being ridiculously muddy like KRK Rokits, but produce nice high ends like Yamahas. But for some reason the JBL monitors much cheaper too, should I trust that?

People commenting below on the youtube video have given nothing but praise for the JBL but I want to make sure I'm making the right decision! What do you think I should go for?

Advice and help would be brilliant!

I recommend you to save up and buy Yamaha HS8 or atleast HS7, believe me its worth to save up for some decent speakers.

If you have the income, a couple extra shifts is way worth it for the bigger ones
