CBD002 - J(ay).A.D - Keti Koti EP // 29th April 2016 cosmicbridge.bandcamp.com/album/keti-koti-ep The second release on Cosmic Bridge’s new digital-only imprint, CBD, is a burning six-track EP from Suriname-born, Amsterdam-based producer Jason Rayman aka J(ay).A.D. Growing up, Rayman found guidance and a healing quality in music. He spent over fifteen years making music under a variety of aliases before any official releases. This all changed when he adopted the J(ay).A.D moniker in 2011, inspired to write tracks that converge somewhere between footwork, grime, and dancehall. Rayman’s experience, and his belief in the palliative powers of music, infuses his Ket Koti EP with a refreshing uniqueness that’s a perfect fit for CBD, an imprint set up by Om Unit to champion new talents and approaches. Over the past year, Rayman has earned support for his work as J(ay).A.D from pop adventurer Bjork, grime specialist Slackk, and Helsinki’s Desto, as well as a notable mention in FACT Magazine’s Under The Radar round up. On Keti Koti, Rayman embraces his unique vantage point as an outsider to synthesise new forms. The six tracks draw from Surinamese Kaseko music and the dark and gritty palettes footwork and grime are known, for but blur them beyond easy recognition.
