issues with audacity

    was trying to record a track using audacity earlier and was gettin seriouse mic distortion managed to get the mic sorted then the track was distorted i have my cd mixer plugged in through my mixer mixer plugged in to amp and amp plugged in to computer tryed to record directly on to soundcloud as well and that was the same mic sounded fine but tune came through well distorted really cant work it out any help would be awesome cheers

    Im pretty sure your problems the amp. Youre amplifying the signal going into a cheap soundcard, the soundcard probably cant take it. Its expecting low level sound like some cheapy mic. Not full on +6 db rammed down its ports.

    Check your line in levels and make sure they arent maxing out.

    If they are, take the booth / rec out from the mixer and whack that in your soundcard.

    yeah that makes alot of sense cos the levels were goin into red and wen i turnt the amp down the sound was slightly better but then i couldnt hear the tune to mc over thanks for the advice will try wot u said
