drop tunes out like 16 bars. like so instead of double dropping two tunes do it so the tune your bringing in drops 16 bars after the second drop off the other tune..

i think i double drop too often. an feel like my mixes are just sorta predictable.

i mixed subfocus - scarecrow > noisia - block control an mixed in the way i described, instead of double dropping it, and it actually sounded kinda good i think...

i uploaded some audio of it here for those that can be fucked to listen.

    http://dnbshare.com/download/scarecrow_blockcontrol.mp3.html

what do you think? do you guys ever feel like you double drop too often?

what im asking i guess is how do you mix? mechanically double dropping one tune after the other? or do you try to mix abit differently?

Course it is mate, if it sounds good then thats all you need worry. Can work really nicely because it'll sound like your just letting the tune run on its own for a while, but then the next one creeps in.

Sub Focus tunes of late pretty much all have a little mini breakdown at the end of each 16th making this type of mixing perfect. Twerk does it as does Ghosts and Stuff. Makes teasing a must imo..

The mix you do has to compliment the tune thats in, all about taking a step back and listening to the tune as a whole and noting where the tune changes beat or synth inorder to make the mix sound clean.

If you tried to do this with a tune that carries over at the end of a 16th with no break then i would sound shit.

    No

The D&B police will confiscate your decks and melt your tunes whilst telling you to fuck off

    Probably...

When I finally learned to beatmatch & count proper, I was double dropping every tune ever ever ever. After a while I realized that it sounded rather lame.

As long as you mix in where there is a drum break its all good.

    I better fucking watch out.
