Is it bad to saturate the sub?

It adds this slight buzz but it hasnt added much higher harmonics, is this wrong should i keep the sub clean?

In my opinion it's best to keep the sub (150hz below)clean and mono...then build your sound up with more distorted bass tracks(depending on the type of tune).

eg
Track1 -sub(150hz below+mono)
Track2 -either copy track 1 and add distortion & stereo widening etc + low cut everything under 150hz
or use a different bass audio sample/synth patch the same note as the sub and add distortion & stereo widening+ low cut everything under 150hz
then on Track3 do the same as Track2 but add a different type of distortion plugin and add even more stereo widening with a low cut even higher....say 1000hz...try different variations of lfo too...

hope this helps a bit...this is the method i usually use.

Yeh this method works well... also helps clear the lower mids. I like to use the fab filter Q and do some mid/side EQing to do this aswell. Strongly recommend!!
