I just got to thinkin.. Nas' Hip Hop is Dead album is the last hiphop CD i bought.. Is there any good shit still coming out?
I used to live and breathe for hip hop, didnt listen to anythin else.. Then I noticed that everything I was listening to was old, and I didnt really like the new shit.. Then drum and bass took over.
But i just heard a Jedi Mind Tricks song i used to listen to and thought 'uhhhhhhhhhhhhh yeah, jedi mind baby, vinnie pas baby' and realised I wanna get back into it..
Is there any new artists around that are actually decent? Or have any of the other dudes put out a good CD recently? Any good quality mixtapes?
    Nice one

Haha @ Hip Hop was never alive. D&B wouldn't be here without Hip Hop.

Back to the question, there's plenty of good shit around still. But it's not getting airplay at all.

Too tired to name any, but I'll get back to this...

There's tons of good stuff out there. Depends what you're into.

Autotune has nowt to do with hiphop. It's for pop acts who can't sing to make 'passable' pop trx.

    http://www.maddecent.com/paperroute/

check this, free / pay what you want label, newish Dirty South mixtape produced by Diplo. Some sick stuff.

look at Don't Flop (UK) & Grind Time & EOW (US) on youtube and you'll see it's alive.

Aaaaw man i feel sorry for non hiphop heads having to re-read this subject again and again, hip hop is alive man! New York is thriving with new beat makers, left coast hip hop is strong too, alot of american mc's are getting european production onto the scene too, check some french and dutch beat tapes best stuff around imo, too many names to mention

Go crazy on youtube if you ever have an hour or two spare, trust you will find some good stuff

    also...

Not dismissing, but if you wanna break it down to the 'elements'...

    They're all alive and v.well.

    It's only the mainstream/radio crossover that's sucking.

Try listening to Finale or Blame Ones last albums I thought they were both good. Then if you like instrumental stuff Mr Dibiase, Oddisee, Ras G. Flying Lotus and Samiyam have got an EP coming soon. Madlibs got 2 albums he's produced coming over the next couple of months, one with Strong Arm Steady, and one with Guilty Simpson, both will be excellent.
