For those that don't know... A few lil write ups on the artists we have for our free event on January 21st at Rhythm Factory!

KEATON

Keaton is a legendary DJ and music producer who began his career at the early age of 17 performing at Bournemouth's Opera House. Shortly after he moved to London to study sound engineering. There he met Carl and Chris and formed the trio called ''the Usual Suspects'' releasing devastating bassline induced tracks like ''killa bees'', ''Doorway'', ''Spawn'' and ''Shrapnel''. This soon brought them worldwide success winning the best newcomers award by the scenes recognized Knowledge magazine.

In 2000 Keaton met Ruxspin, Scandal and Nitrox, and they formed a group called Universal Project. Their first track was groundbreaking, entitled "The Craft".

Later Keaton started working more independently and pursued a career oriented towards more solo work. He started working with other artists in the drum and bass scene such as Dom & Roland, Loxy, Ink, Dylan, Gridlok, Echo and Hive, while still working with Usual Suspects and Universal Project throughout 2002.
Towards the end of 2003 Keaton collaberated with Hive to produce "The Plague" and "Resolution". This started a strong partnership with Hive and his record label Violence Recordings.

Keaton then reduced his amount of work with the Usual Suspects and stopped being involved with Universal Project, focusing on his solo career. He created his own label, Refuge, in 2004, and collaberated with Loxy on the Xtinction Agenda Label in 2006. After some time out from the London DnB scene, Keaton finally returns, gracing Intent2Supply with some fresh and classic drum and bass. Intent2Supply are priveleged too present such excellence.

DOSE - NEW ZEALAND

Hailing from New Zealand, now London based, Chris Truman aka Dose first got into drum and bass in Christchurch around the year 2000. Not long after learning to djing the genre with friends he eventually got his first club gig in 2002 at the age of 19. After a few years of djing in Christchurch and around New Zealand,Dose ventured into setting up a studio and self taught himself the technical skill of audio engineering and production.

Dose's productions were first discovered in late 2006 by DJ Optiv (Cause 4 Concern) who released Dose`s first 12" on Red Light recordings. Since then Dose has released various rmx`s,collaborations and original works on such labels as Commercial Suicide,Renegade Hardware and Samurai music to name a few.

His hard hitting, high energy and hypnotic signature sound has been supported by a wide range of established international artist`s such as Noisia, DJ Friction, Dieselboy, Andy C, Klute, The Upbeats, State of mind & many more which in turn has made the Dose sound a regular on dancefloors around the globe.

Building on his already extremely successful & fruitful discography, 2011 sees Dose further his profile with an onslaught of solo 12" releases, namely on Dieselboy's Human Imprint, Dj Presha's Samurai music and rmx`s for Jade & Optiv. 2011 will also see the launch of his own record label Prescription Audio, which will be the main outlet to accommodate the progression of the Dose sound.

Having deejayed for over 8 years and toured countless gigs across Australasia & Europe his on point, high energy and creative mixing skills are sought after internationally and with 2011 showing no remorse dose`s contagious sound is looking to spread even further.

EBK

EBK, real name Martin Kornacki, is a drum and bass producer and DJ from London, United Kingdom, with 10 years of releases on influential labels including Renegade Hardware and DSCI4 Recordings.

EBK is an abbreviation for E-Blok, which was EBK’s DJ name in his early teens. It plays on the fact he is of Polish descent, hence Eastern Bloc, combined with the rave culture connotations of the letter ‘E’ commonly used to describe the MDMA based drug Ecstasy. EBK used to be a graffiti writer in London during the mid 90s, though not using the name EBK, the spelling and three letter abbreviation of EBK however follow the street style formula for writing crew names during that era.

EBK cut his teeth as a teenager in the 1990s DJing Jungle on pirate and internet radio stations including Flex FM and Interface before becoming the co-founder of Composite Records a label that at the turn of the millennium was an integral part of drum and bass's movement towards the rolling techno influenced sub-genre now known as Neurofunk.
Following a number of releases on Renegade Hardware including ‘Soma’ and ‘Blackboard Jungle' EBK came to prominence in 2007 with the release of ‘1000 Years’ on Renegade Hardware’s album ‘Above The Game’ along with his remix work for Sudden Def Records.

His tracks are played by DJs across the board and have got national radio support in the UK from broadcasters including Mary Anne Hobbs and the late John Peel.

DJ E

The story of the mighty Dj E began in 1994, when he started his first radio set on London's Rude FM. E coninued too grace the station too this very day, with his heavy bassline induced industrial teck sound (Thursdays 10pm-12am & Sundays 6pm-8pm) checkwww.RudeFM.com

In 1999 E followed the natural progression from djing by stepping into the world of production. E's debut release was in 2001 with help of the mighty Dylan. It was released on Spektrum Audio No. 11, the a-side was entitled "N13", and the flip was called Routine. E followed this by collaborating with B-Key on a track called Default, which was released on XXX. E followed this with joint efforts with close friends dylan, robyn chaos, & Bkey by starting Therapy sessions London. This evolved into the most successful international dark drum and bass promotion.
2007 saw the next release by E, this time a collab with the evil Donny, with a remix track entitled ''Amputation'' on Barcode records. This spurned a flurry of international dj gigs at renowned nights such as Autopsy, Hardware, Therapy sessions, Prospect, Ill Moot, Tech:nology, and Pirate sessions, as well as Intent to Supply.
Today E looks forward too releases on a vast spectrum of labels including an EP with BKEY on Vampire, a collab with Cooh, forthcoming on Guerilla, and a single on Dutty Audio, as well as a few other projects in the pipeline ;) look out for E in 2011 as big things are coming....... and as E always says ''WATCH!!!!! ITS GONNA GET DARK!!!!!!''

KAIZEN

Kaizen grew up on a healthy diet of Funk, Jazz and Hip Hop. His introduction into Tangerine Dream & Kraftwerk at a young age played a huge part in him wanting to find that ‘next’ sound. After listening to various stations such as Weekend Rush, Don FM, Dream FM and Rude FM in the early 90’s, it was this that got him hooked into the breakbeat music.
In ’94 he started dabbling in mixing but never really took it on properly until late ’95, from then on it became a bit of an addiction. He began raving in ’96 at events such as A.W.O.L, Roast and World Dance. The beats, atmosphere and the culture was something that inspired him.
Fast forward a few years to 2001 and Kaizen started work at S.R.D. It was here where he learnt how the industry worked from the label/producer point of view. It also fed his addiction for vinyl and also manage to get his hands on a few rarities. In the latter half of 2003 he joined Rude FM on the graveyard shift, Saturdays 4-6PM. This was his first stint over the FM airwaves. He also bagged various gigs in countries such as Holland, Belgium, Germany, France and the UK. In 2005 he left the station to study music at college and it was here where he met DJ Pulse and Professor Stretch (Creative Wax/Bounty Killaz). In 2006 he decided to take a break from the scene.
After dabbling in a bit of Dubstep and working with The Others he decided to return to D&B where he hooked up with Facs & Fon of Biotic/XXX Records in early ‘07. With two remixes in the pipeline along with a few colabs, things are looking up for all involved.
He came back to join Rude FM (now known as www.rudefm.com) in ‘09-‘10 where he held a Saturday afternoon show from 6-8PM. With his amen filled, B-Boy and weight, his shows did not disappoint. He is currently working for Sound Artillery and Tech:Noir Records and is working in the studio alongside MR2, Friske and has future projects lined up with Phil Source, Antidote and the DJ E.
Labels:
Sound Artillery, Tech:Noir, Biotic/XXX Records and Creative Wax.

DJ NYX

London based Drum & Bass DJ who prefers the harder tech side of DNB. Was picked up by Renegade Hardware in October 2009, and has played nearly all events since then alongside DJ’s such as: DJE, ADI-J and EBK. Focusing more on on DJ-ing than production, Nyx’s sets comprise of a variety of artists and labels across the years to try and provide something new and un-bias every time. Shortly after playing for Hardware, she had an opportunity to contribute to the Intent2Supply camp, and continues to encourage and support darker beats in London and the UK.

CONDUCT

Conduct was first exposed to Drum n Bass when he left school, the more tapes he listened to, the more passionate he became about the music and soon after bought his first set of turntables. He began to develop a taste for the deeper and darker side of the genre, constantly buying music to provide a fresh and old classic selection.
Conduct first started on Hype FM in 2004, where he played and was part of a team to run the station which broadcasted on a restricted licence. Shortly after had a slot on Sweetbeatz, along with a few guest shows on UKbass radio. Meanwhile, obtaining sets at free parties around the country including a residency at a event called Revival where the nights took place in his local area, before joining Rude FM in the latter part of 2006. Since then he has continued to play at nights such as Tech:nology, Rumble&Scratch, and Son of Dance. More recently, becoming a resident for Intent2Supply. With the logical progression, he is now stepping into the world of music production.

STAPLETON

Stapleton MC is a hard working and highly respected MC within the drum and Bass scene. Having been spotted and asked to produce a demo for Trouble on Vinyl in 2004. Stapleton has knuckled down with a constructive attitude and positive thought.
Stapleton has now firmly established himself as a Renegade Hardware MC (London & Worldwide). It is due to this he now currently holds residencies with Therapy Sessions (London & Worldwide) W10 Records (London & Worldwide), Hospitality Brighton, Breakneck and Intent2Supply.
Stapleton’s style is a combination of original wordplay, intelligence, versatility, presence and crowd control accompanied by a good strong voice.

FOKUS

Considered by many to be a relatively fresh face in the world of Drum and Bass, 28 year old MC Fokus is no stranger to the stage. With a lifelong passion for words and sound, he has experimented with music from a young age. Having earnt his stripes on the pirate radio and club circuit in the Home Counties, the Hitchin based lyricist emerged onto the London scene in 2004. Hosting a weekly show on Origin FM, Fokus soon caught the attention of the city’s promoters, earning himself a residency at the award-winning ‘Traffic’. With a growing reputation he has gone on to play all over the UK and Europe, at events including Intrigue, Renegade Hardware, Fabric Live, Therapy Sessions, Dezibel and Atmosphere. Performances on Drum and Bass Arena’s ‘DNBTV’ and other radio stations, including Ministry Of Sound and Kool FM, have reached the ears of audiences around the world. Fokus is an MC with experience and dedication. A new breed of MC whose lyrics have meaning, rhythm and substance. Recognised for his versatile and creative style, he continues to work alongside a wide range of artists; from the deep and progressive to the dark and twisted. Fokus aims to weave his voice into the music, complementing the beats without overpowering the DJ. In his own words: “I think it’s important for an MC in the Drum and Bass scene to evolve with the music and avoid the clichés. I like spending time on my written rhymes, but I also try to freestyle as much as possible. It’s more spontaneous and the crowd can really vibe off it. For me, a radio show is the perfect environment to chat some deeper rhymes, as people can hear every word and appreciate the story or message within the lyrics”.
