Influenza Media proudly presents our first vinyl release featuring :
INMD001 - Atlantic Connection - Wonderful Life / Echo Park
Atlantic Connection
Nathan Hayes, also known as Atlantic Connection might be someone that you're not too familiar with. Despite his many successes as a solo artist over the last two years; getting signed to many major labels including Advanced, Breakbeat Science, Celsius, Creative Source, Deep Kut, Dispatch, Fokuz, Industry, Spearhead, and Westbay, the Californian has been putting his style of chilled out drum 'n bass on the map for over a decade.
Starting out as Sirus and releasing two singles, Hubble's Law and Hyperdrive, released in 1998 and 2002 respectively, the evolution of sound began and, by 2003, Nathan had joined up with North Carolina's Focus to form the duo, Basic Operations. The duo had achieved much success throughout the next four years, putting out different styles of drum 'n bass on many labels, ranging from tech-driven neuro to the chilled out sounds that we are accustomed to in Basic Ops' productions.
As 2006 came and went, Nathan once again took on the solo route and, two years later, the man known as Atlantic Connection stepped up to the plate, laying down two very soulful pieces for the first release in Influenza Media's vinyl series.

Wonderful Life:
There's a lot of things that make me like this tune. Atlantic Connection starts out with some very solid drum work followed by rich pads and a very warm vocal. The drums snap back in for a second time as they build towards the break. The pads and vocals come back while rolling it out to the finish.
Echo Park:
Lovely rhodes open this one up, and I'm really feeling the series of vocals that come in at different intervals. The bassline remains so simple but has such big effect on the overall product. This track reminds me of the chilled out vibes from the 90s. Atlantic Connection uses such precision in selecting the elements that would make even the most basic of tracks stand out above the rest. He's a true master!
