....to go and have a Mix...

    ...and record

This is my debut thread in waffle (I think)

This time I am just going to mix and not plan it. As I normally plan recorded mixes. But with me when I press record something happens and my mixing ability is reduced. I just feel the pressure to get a perfect recording. I am going to get into the habit of recording everything I do which should help :)

My record collection is coming along nicely...two boxes nearly full. Found a shop yesterday which sell DnB vinyl for £1 each. It is always good to have a look through the old stuff

I just feel like a waffle so I have come to waffle

I am even going to ask the question.........

What is your preferred + sign to record on?

I am doing +3 at the mo. I used to record my mixes starting at 0 but that feels much too slow now

Usually around +2 for recent DnB. All depends what I am playing though.

i find the same... i smash it out when i don't try and find well interesting mix combo's, then i hit record and can never re-create the majic!

tis one reason i like to go b2b with another dj, as you can get some well interesting results!

    :D

same.. my mixing ability is always worse when im recording it. i always manage to have more mistakes .:ban:

and to the question, it depends what tune ur starting of with. if it was pulp fiction, +3 would be very slow :D Hmmm i would say i mix about 177 - 178 bpm ish?

+6.. love a fast paced energetic mix!!! Of course it depends on the tune but alot of my jump up (cue argument) sounds best (imo) at +6ish.. but all depends on what your mixing i guess.

Also i don't see the pressure in recording a mix? Just don't think about it, remember its only a couple of clicks from being deleted and having another go if it is bad.. Just don't worry and mix as you normally would!

Good call on recording everything, i do this.. Good to listen back on a bit a surprising piece of sickness!!!

    Anyways..

Good luck! and congrats on loosing your waffle virginity lol!

I use to be like this when recording. But think fuck it if i screw up i screw up. After you recorded have listen to the mix and pick out the mistakes, trust you learn lot from doing this. It don't bother me now when i recorded. Good luck :)
