i need advice on these bass synths

Bit o' throat clearing: i normally make experimental dnb and even occasionally chill dnb, but i want to make some darkstep.
I spent this morning making these synth noises & want to know if they are approriate. Should sound like this: :chainsaw:

or

a.) I know i will need to use sub-bass along with em
b.) sorry they are mp3, but I only have a geocities site and don't have much bandwidth,

they are not bad. saw wah is probally the direction you want to go.

what did you use to make those?

i make natural recordings, look at the sound waves, extract 1, loop it several times. then pitch shift it into the note i want, then layer a few of them to get the sound i want / add distortion, flange, phaser, unison, etc.
it sounds like too much work, but i know what my end result will be, i jus wanted input for what direction to move in.
i've only tried to make one track so far
(& saw wah seemed to hard to work with given my current ability :shrug:
