can you? cole is a fuckin' donkey and owen is a legend.

i almost feel as if owen must have turned capello down for a blow job or something because he just won't pick him.

Capello picks players who are playing and are in form.

Owen was injured for most of the season and Cole wasn't and had his best season yet.

Thats why, but yes, Owen is a legend and deserves to be in the squad but so does Cole.

    Up the 'ammers!

jus prooves that in that seconf half defoe (coys) and cole if they hadnt come on we would of lost that game to those dirty dutch pricks! Cole prooved himself coz he was strong got int the right areas and made a meal out of the dutch defense ..Defoe on the other hand got into areas and used his pace and scored ...!

you're a hammers fan so your opinion doesn't count anyway. injury hit season or not, owen is thrice the player cole will ever be.

granted we would have lost the game but for second half substitute (defoe). cole might be strong, and a big fucker and all that, but he ain't ever gonna be an england centre forward, standard. too many better players than him.

fuck site better than that useless prick heskey.

    true story.

i can't see owen and defoe as a decent partnership, unless we are playing the lord of the rings hobbits XI.

    (no offence, shortround)

Carlton cole played very well, same as milner & defoe.

Owen might of been good once, but hes been pretty poor since he join Real! imo

Err, my opinion does count, did i say Cole was better then Owen, No....Owen is the better player but Cole come into his best form last season and hopefully this season will be better for him!

Cole had a good season and in better form so he's in the squad, get over it.

I hope Cole bangs in some goals in the qualifiers, then we'll see what you gotta say.

Owen's shit, one trick pony. Go for Cole everytime. Owen's the past, Cole is the future...

At the moment Cole has been in better form. Owen has played well for man united in pre-season, but this is international football, Playing against chinese teams doesn't add up. Owen hasn't had good form since he left to join real madrid years back.

There are always injury worries for owen aswell, so he may have been left out to keep him for the start of the season.

I thought Cole played well with defoe last night.

Also big up milner, he made a massive difference when he came on! :lighter:

Anyone else think ferdinand looked well sloppy last night? i thought he looked slow around the pitch!

Rio did not look on form last night, The whole back 4 looked dodgy. if were serious about winning the world cup a team like holland is a team we should be beating.

I don't think we should be too hard on the team, it was a pre-season friendly, no-one wanted to get injured, Rio and Barry were still in holiday mode by the looks of things and the second half was much better.

cole regulary played poor last season for west ham..
im not a fan of cappello picking a player just because there in form dosent mean shit when they play international games, you need solid expieranced players and obviously goal scorers
like defo and owen when hes fit ..
even tho owen has been hit with shitload of injurys over the years no matter where he plays he will score a lot more goals than cole.

i gotta say it's not gonna happen. i think crouch and owen will both jump above him in the pecking order when the season starts and capello can judge players on form this season and not last. not saying cole is gonna be shit, he actually wasn't too bad last night, and i posted this thread before he'd even touched the ball. but he's never gonna be prolific and i don't think he'll get many more opportunities to be honest, especially not in the group games when you're only allowed three subs.

if your going on form then owen should be the first name on the team sheet seen as he scored 4 in 5 during pre season.

i dont know how people expect us to win the world cup with two of our strikers being heskey and cole....should be crouch, owen, rooney and defoe in the squad
