How would you go about making this mid-range bass sound?

Thread title says it all really. Im talking about the mid-range sound that comes right after the drop. The shape of the sound I guess could be obtained by trial & error, but I'm more curious towards the osc/filters etc used to make the sound itself. I've been trying to produce recently and everytime I open massive I end up making the same sound over and over again. Even if I use another synth I always end up going for the same sound, need some new refreshing ideas on making these mid-range sounds used in deep/minimal d&b tracks

its just a reese shortened with abit of distortion and the lfo opened and closed quickly. sounds like hes took the low end of it out and replaced it with a sub bass
