How to make this vocal effect?

i've experimented to make the vocal effect in the incontext's and the Subsonik's songs i linked. Im talking about the background vocals.

Incontext - just believe

Is it more than change the transpose and work with reverb and delays? Seems i cant get it sound so "liquidish" Or is it rather to make the right sample?

for the first tune on the back ground id just filter n add a small amount of reverb. to get the vocal to change between vocal and synth id automate a vocoder. The 2nd tune is almost only a vocoder with added fx
