Hello, in my productions I always end up trying (unsuccessfully) to recreate the kind of snare sound I will show you here, I've been tearing my hair out for a while now trying to understand how it is made, example being these two tracks:

Especially after 3:42 where the loop is more exposed:

My best guess is some kind of rimshot layered with multiple hats? I can mess around in the mixer trying to get the sound, but I am struggling with what the basic components even are.

Would greatly appreciate a point in the right direction. Cheers.

Yo

As you guessed you can recreate the Etherwood snare with a nice clean acoustic rimshot layered with a bit of metal hat or metal foley. The envelope of the metal part is important. Try adding a very narrow eq boost in the 1.5k region to the rimshot because that can really help with the tonality. Do this by ear because it will interact with the other elements of your track but you can find out the hz values of specific notes online to make sure it is approx in key. The Spectrasoul one is more about the reverb although it has the Think snare underneath.
