how to get heavy, techstep-style drums from resampled funk drums?

i've spent hours using fabfilter saturn, ozone 5, camelphat on a plain amen break and still can't get close to that heavy, slightly distorted techstep sound. main examples are the tramen, i know Dom sampled that amen from an old hardcore album. i know there are other layers involved but what i'm focused on is his amen. sourcing his amen would be impossible but i wouldn't want to do that anyway because i don't want to sample, i'm dying to try to figure out how to process a break to get as similar of a sound as possible. i'd like to use it on other breaks aside from the amen. i've just spent so much time experimenting with filters and layering with additional breaks that i'm burned out and posting in a desperate attempt that somebody has gotten a similar-ish sound from processing a sampled funk break before and can help provide guidance.

^ the "gappamen" break, it's a random amen that i have in my collection along with several others

all different examples of the same thing, the Mutant Revisited example above which links to the 2:39 mark in the song, is exactly what i've been trying for.

takes time brotha, you just have to put in the hours. suffice to say you can do it digitally when you know exactly what youre looking for, but its sooo much easier to achieve with analog equipment, not to mention an emu. tape. emu. emu is digital of course but still.

record it to analog c90 tape at a very hot level then reimport to DAW, NY compression with waves cla-76, blacky revision, analog on, all ratio. layer with clean original for clarity, fatness very much achieved.

you has winrar, maybe. just maybe.
