Side chaining, correct levels, surgical Eqing and parallel compression, transient shaping (shaack audio transient shaper is amazing), and most importantly good sample choice. Its all a matter of experimenting, I find making drums and breaks really easy, but struggle with bass.

You should be a bit more specific mate. Side chaning what to what?

they say leave sound design to the sound designers
I think the Kickdrum sounds like the one in Fruityloops!
Try it! Its a good sample to start! and very punchy!
also ALWAYS stick a white noise layer one it, and a clicky rim (pitched up) or savagely gated hihat or both and a gated sidechain reverb hipassed
YupThere are loads of ways to do it but at the end of the day, it's all about getting your mix down right.

a good compression is a way to get that . try june miller sample pack . you will find some very punchy kicks and snares.
