Bete delete has been pretty great for me. Managed to complete my bonobo back catalogue cos of it and also get Quantic - the 5th exotic on wax which i have wanted for ages. Basically it takes a payment for a vinyl and only when it finally fully funded will they repress the record. http://www.beatdelete.com/ Ive just seen that hospital records has joined the group of labels that use the service (if anyone needs a copy of tough guys dont dance, look no further - http://www.beatdelete.com/releases/high-contrast/tough-guys-don-t-dance) but why havnt more dnb labels joined this service?
or even better, how about specific beatdelete releases for the albums that only had very limited vinyl releases. (enei - machines etc) - - - Updated - - - hopefully they will soon, cos i think this service would benefit so many labels out there who dont want the risk
So you pay money and then have to wait potentially ages for it to reach the required amount for a repress... what if it never reaches the amount. Is there a time limit? Do you get your money back?
Im running myself into the ground trying to get them all, so expensive some of the harder to get Samurai and Exit bits would be nice too along with DMZ
dmz wouldnt sign up but did you see that there is a load of pirate copies of haunted/anti war dub floating about? http://www.discogs.com/Digital-Mystikz-Haunted-Anti-War-Dub/release/4942454
looks something like KickStarter, which is already pretty popular, and less restrictive in what you can offer
except this already has backing from big labels like ninjatune, tru thoughts and now hospital records, with an easy basket and check out option and mastering/pressing services tied in. kickstarter is just a mish mash of projects from films to bakery goods. no one would notice if a pre-funded repress showed up on there. i would recommend people to like their facebook group just to keep in the know when a repress you want shows up - https://www.facebook.com/BeatDelete
I thought it would be money up front. If they wait 6/12 months people will pull out or not have the funds available etc I don't think doing it this way is very safe. Although I guess if it's a very popular release oversubscription should take care of that.
