At the moment my speakers are sitting on stacked dvds on my wooden desk, am I right in thinking this is shit and that my low end is being too absorbed by the stands? If so- any ideas on how I can botch 2 little speaker stands (about 20 cm high) avoiding expenses?

low end doesnt get absorbed like that, if anything speaker stands may resonate, or vibrate against other things, which can cause mixdown problems

the heavier the platform that holds the speakers the better, sand is a good way to fill up hollow speaker sands to make them heavier, i've even heard of people using paving slabs lol

I made my own stands to raise my monitors off my desk, just used 4 pieces of wood joined into a box shape and painted them up
