there ARE alot of hip hop remixes by dnb producers. but all of the collabs that i mentioned were done with the rapper and producer in the studio together... making the song from scratch. most recently being the hive/busdriver track that is soon to be released.
i dont know... maybe it's because i'm in NY, but around here MC's who try to chat like skibba dont get any recognition. in my area, there is a very fine line between the hip hop scene and the dnb scene. most of the people you see at a hip hop night, you will also see at a dnb night.
the most popular MC's are the guys who slow it down and excersise some lyrical ability. battle skills, metaphors and flow are a must for any MC that i would want to hear. if there is a wannabe UK, chatty prick on the mic, i get tempted to leave. as do alot of people that i know. adding a hip hop element to dnb is the one of the only things us stateside cats can do help give the USA it's own style. y'know?
