So, I've decided I'm going to replace my current monitors (Alesis M1 Active MK2's) with a set of better monitors.
Bit torn between a few choices:

Event Opals (Bit pricey, but worth it, alternative is getting a virus ti 2 desktop keyboard model, but thats for another thread :p)
    Adam A7X's
    KRK VXT 8's
    Adam A77X's
Event 20/30's (the cheapest option, worth checking out I think?)

Does anyone have any other monitors worth checking out?
Budget is anywhere from 1000-2500 euros.

If I go with the cheaper monitors, I'm getting a virus ti snow to accompany them : ).

    EDIT:

For the record, my room is fully treated, so decent monitors are an option for that then.

Aren't the guys behind Eve the same ones behind the Adam range?

I honestly believe that everything you just listed would do perfectly. :D I don't have experience with none of them, but there's praise everywhere (Especially a77x, vxt8 and Opals), and ofcourse, many many big names use them. Also check out ATCs, Genelecs and forementioned brands.

    Aren't ATC's outrageously expensive though?
Heard great things about genelecs : ).

ATC's are quite pricey, so you should get some Barefoot MM27's instead :p

Adam A7X's. I stare at them constantly in awe and made the mistake of hearing a demo of them in person within a properly treated environment. Sweet baby jebus. They will be mine. Oh yes. They will be mine...

Full disclosure: I haven't heard any of the other listed monitors in person so I can't say honestly yay or nay to any of them.

If you can get a second hand pair of dynaudio bm15 you won't regret it. Managed to bag the passives and an amp for a very reasonable price.

I used to use event 2020s and they're very good, preferred them to mackies.

    The dynaudios smash it though.

I really rate the Focal CM65's, they sound fucking AMAZING. I have a pair of Sonodyne AK100's, most people will tell you, myself included that they sound like monitors that cost 3x more than they actually do, only draw back is 60hz cut off, but you get used to that.

Genelec just came out with the M040, which are visually stunning, but I haven't heard anything else about them, generally I find Genelec monitors quite harsh sounding but that's a good thing because you don't want a speaker that just makes things sound good. Otherwise I'd also consider Neumann KH 120, PreSonus Sceptre S6 (http://shop.studioxchange.co.uk/PreSonus_Sceptre_S6_Pair_p/presonus-sceptre-s6.htm), they look mega cool! And the Dynaudio BM5a mkii.

If I had to choose though, it would be between the Sonodyne's and the Dynaudio's, the Focal ones are amazing too though!

Thanks for the replies guys :).

I went to Feedback Rotterdam today to demo some monitors, pretty sure I've set my eyes on the Adam A77X's, now I just need to make some room for them :p. They're a bit "big".

I do agree on this, but I found the A77X to be even more superior to the regular A7X's, they provide some very intense sound for the money! (Flat sounding as well.)

I am around the same budget and looking for monitors as well. Wrote a topic before, looking for a pair of Focal Twins, but due to quite a change of tide I simply must look the other way now :( So now I preferably need monitors without need for a subwoofer due to budget and space. This thread really suggests the A77Xs, and they look promising. Have you looked into the EVE SC208? They look to be quite similar (Except for the physical design), and before I heard of the A77Xs, I was about to buy them - now I really don't know which ones, and hope to find a store with both in stock to hear.

I can't listen to EVE speakers :(, they don't sell them at my local store.
From what I could tell though, A77X's are definitely my future purchase.

I like how both the woofers serve a different purpose frequency wise.

From having listened to them, I'd recommend Adam A7X + Sub 7 or Genelec 8040 + 7050 sub combos - both are just fantastic speakers. The Adams are slightly more gentle with the highs in comparison to the Genelecs, though I personally just love the sharpness, clarity and ability to be able to properly separate sound of the Genelecs. Also Dynaudios are very good from what I've heard though havent had the pleasure to listen to them myself.

Listened to some Eves recently and they were really nice, considering some myself.

A mate recently bought some 20/30s and they were pretty cool. Wouldn't say they're high high end, but a nice response on them.

    A7xs are tried and tested.

Opals blow them all out of the water.

I'd love to get the opals, just means saving up for an extra month :p.
But I'm debating getting a virus + Adam monitors instead.

Opals are ridiculous though, Billain's "Total Darkness" sounded very clear on them, could hear all the tiny details in the mix.

Eve SC305/07 are an option as well.
