Help Me Get Something Straight

Is a 'Bar' a count of 1,2,3,4, or a count of 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8?
I've always thought 1-8 constituts a 'bar'. I know it's somewhat of a noob question so don't rip on me too bad.

A bar is four beats 1-2-3-4.

16 bars (in dnb) make a phrase.

8 bars make a phrase in just about everything else.

When im mixing I do this four times which equals 16 bars

I always just thought of everything as 'Eight Counts'. As well as labeling everything.Like I have Chubrub as being 32 bars when it's 64 bars, right?

yes, this... in dnb its a 4/4 signature or 'four to the floor' so it basicly means each 'beat' is a 1/4 bar and there are 4 beats per bar...

some tracks could have 3 beats in a bar... ie a waltz

I can now mix tunes with just 10secs before the drop now, just by listening to the track.
