So apparently this is mostly a North American thing.

I had a buddy in school in the UK and said very few people dress up. That's kinda sad cause its always a point in the year i look forward too.

Who is dressing up this year and what are you gonna do in your costume?

halloween is basically an excuse for all the asbo-ridden chavs of the neighbourhood to dress up in disguise and threaten old people into giving them sweets.

This year me & 4 buddies are going as the 4 Teletubbies, and we are gonna be getting the masks from V for Vendetta to go with our costumes - Should be a really weird touch.

We are gonna drive around in a car and every stop light we get to, all the doors are gonna open and we are gonna run around the car and jump back into different seats - should be really funny to see peoples reactions.

There is also a decent show to attend as well, should be a really fun weekend of debauchery.

There usually kids knocking on peoples doors asking for money over here, I used to do it myself when I was a nipper... there might be a themed night at a club or someone or a few house parties but nothing on the scale of what happens in your neck of the woods, shame really. :(

I have a friend who dresses up regularly, he has a collection of masks and walks the village going about his day. He likes to go to the chip shop or chinese with a mask on and just starts doing press-ups in front of everyone. His family is really odd, brother used to dance naked on top of a garage, tried to smash open a turtle at the park. His dad is in an institution tried to blow up him and his brother and mother with a bomb attached to a remote controlled car.

I once went to a fancy dress party as Velma from Scooby Doo (the brown haired one with glasses) it was fun.
I'd love more oppurtunity to dress up. Although there's always the girls who use Halloween & fancy dress events to show just how slutty they are. This does not please me.
My brother has gone as Papa Lazarou to a few things - very funny.

ah yes halloween, a dedicated day to egg throwing and other messy doings by mischevious youths, dressed in bin liners begging you for sweets.

yet if i want to dress in glam rock clothes and share my sweets with children on any other day of the year, i get arrested or beaten up.

    some people.
