PRESS RELEASE
Shoot The Freak Recording is a new label from the heart of Bristol. Originally a collective of DJs and Producers promoting club nights at Bristol’s Basement 45, Shoot the Freak’s co-founder Icon Roller has formed this label to showcase the collectives talents.
Now on their second release STF plan to release music across the board. Dubstep, Drumstep infused Hip Hop and D&B, their hardhitting sounds is sure to turn a few heads in 2011.
H.O.S.T might be a new name, but he is by no means new to the scene. H.O.S.T is the recording moniker for long-time Bristol MC, Richy B. With numerous residencies under his belt, including Beat Bristol, We Like To Party, Shoot The Freak and a European tour with Full Cycle’s DJ Krust, H.O.S.T is laying down his live performance energy onto tape for a series of singles on the newly formed Shoot The Freak label.
This new project sees the MC working alongside the Shoot The Freak producer and DJ, Icon Roller.
Their first single ‘Highly Blessed’ is a dark and energetic Drumstep track pulling in influences from producers like Noisia and Ed Rush. Hard hitting snares and fast shuffling percussion drive this track along with a double time feel whilst H.O.S.T lyrics provide a dancehall style swing to the track.
The two track digital bundle includes a remix from Dreadnought’s DJ GTS. This fast paced jump up monster is sure to set the dance off in any club.
The big drums and a heavy hoover bass intro builds up the tension before it jumps into big dance floor filler.
