Good synths for making leads

I know a good way to make hooks/leads is sampling but can someone recommend some good synths to make your own hooks, either with digital sounds or instrument sounds?

Where do you want to start? I like z3ta. Every other guy will like something else.
For sampled sounds Kontakt is good.

ya, i like massive and zeta as well (i personally find that zeta is good for a real deep bass).

but i'd also like to know of any good instrument synths. i wanna mess w/ some not so synthetic sounding strings/horns.
