La Rocha is proud to present...
Dam Mantle LIVE
Dam Mantle is the dazzlingly-monikered Glasgow-based producer and performer who has garnered a lot of hype about his work recently. Tom Marshallsay blends a nomadic sense of rhythm with a kaleidoscopic sound-pallete of synths and samples.
Starting off 2010 with a bang, his debut 12″ – the Grey EP on local Glaswegian label Halleluwah Hits was released in March and was met with universal acclaim and sold out within a month. His second EP, Purple Arrow was released in September 2010 via Dam Mantle’s own label, Growing records.
Dam Mantle made its live debut supporting Gold Panda in the Spring of 2010, across the UK and since then has shared the stage with the best electronic talent around, playing through the summer with, amongst others, Plaid, Dimlite, Four Tet, Scientist and Toro Y Moi, as well as appearing at various European events and festivals in London, Glasgow Amsterdam, Poland, Switzerland, France, Czech Republic, Glasgow and Germany.
'Glaswegian beat mathematician Tom Marshallsay, a.k.a. Dam Mantle, seems to embrace an amiably all-over-the-map compositional style. EP cut "Rebong" is an exceptionally groovy slice of glitch-hop, with a harp sample not unlike something Flying Lotus would use'. - Pitchfork
Gracing the Berkeley Suite on the 29th, Dam Mantle will no doubt be positively convulsing as he hops from laptop to synth, synth to drum machine, then back to laptop, constantly tweaking, fiddling, tapping, bumping his equipment, teasing the senses with his fluid mix of dubstep, Warp-style electronica, break-beat and ambient wash. WE CANNOT WAIT!!
