So, the question is... how do I make beats sort of like in this track


I have read the Q&A on DOA with phace... yet it still remains a little mystery for me.

I know that tune went through several stages of mixing and mastering and my beats have none of this.

I also read all the earlier topics here about the shuffles etc. it still feels like I miss the point.
and no, I am not asking for a simple how to rip off that kind of beat, rather I'm looking for a way to get some funk and groove into my beats.
 
Can't listen to the link as in work but don't be afraid to use little samples of classic beats to get the kind of little flutter-rolls. Even someone like dBridge (who I rate highly) uses these kind of flutter-rolls.
 
It could just that you need to add some swing to your beats to give them more of a human feel?
