ghost notes

Lately i've been trying to make more complex hi-hat patterns for my tunes
The more high energy songs I listen to the more complex I am realizing hi-hat patterns truly are.

I heard something about ghost notes beside 8th-hi hat notes or something...

Wondering if anyone could offer me a better explanation on this???

As far as a drummers perspective goes, ghost notes are just really quiet notes/hits normally made using the wrist or hand rather than a full arm swing

I heard that you put ghost notes with the regular hi-hats and it just fills it out better because they are different velocities or something like that

I find it can be good to alternate between loud n ghost notes, i.e. loud ghost loud ghost, this provides whats called molar technique
