Why does this happen & how can you stop it from happening?
A build up of lactic acid! same as wat makes muscels ach, you cant really stop it, but best not to eat much before goin for a run heard that helps

did 8 miles last week and no probs, did 4 tonight and it hurt like fffffff

yeh just need to keep building it up man, eat well but at least an hour or so before you run, go to the gym etc

run it off, it goes away. Try to straighten your back and stretch it and all
this is the simple answer, thereis no easy way!!
stop and stretch it out, it will not completey go but it makes it feel 10times better. then you can run for a few more mile.
If it comes back stretch again.
eat a good amount of carbohydrates throughout the day , however dont eat about 1- 2 hours before you run, drink as much water as you can without pissing like a racehorse every 10 minutes and you should be okay, the fitter you get the more you'll be able to run without getting a stitch
