The anti-climax here is that its a bike.

Living in New Cross and just need a bike to get me to and fro from uni etc. Got about 100 smackers to play with but know nooooothing about bikes.

Being one of those things people can get really into was wondering if anyone on here has any advice/ recommendations.

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE BUY A BIKE FROM HALFORDS or at least don't let them build it, it will QUITE LITERALLY fall apart within a week.

If you've only got £100 to play with i'd suggest buying a half decent one second hand. You're not gonna get a new bike that will last you very long with that budget.
See what's available on ebay, and check out the reviews for each item.

Also, a decent BMX is allways fun to rag about on. Allways been my prefferance, but no gears/suspension or any of that pussy'ole crap.

I broke my bike recently so was borrowing various family members. was gonna buy a cheap second hand hybrid off ebay as they are a lot nicer/easier to ride around london than my mountain bike, but in the end just got the new pedals for my bike so fix it up

£100 new bikes would be shiiit! I bought my mountain bike 10 years ago brand new, £400 reduced from £600 and its still going strong today! Good ole kona scab, survived all my dirt jumping and shenanigans too... Brook

so yeah, just eBay one... Plastic cranks is a no-no for me

oh yeah, and if you are in new cross, you may just want to pop over to decathlon in surrey quays as they have a fair old selection of bikes (their own ranges are quite good value) but you can try stuff out and get a better idea of what you want anyway

Freecycle a bike then spend the money on drugs. A couple of dnbforum members highly recommend cycling whilst spangled.
