SCRATCH PERVERTS

Tony Vegas, Prime Cuts and Plus One are the Scratch Perverts - a name that has become synonymous with Hip Hop and battle DJ-ing ever since their formation in 1996. Their reputation as one of the world’s most progressive DJ collectives is unparalleled; two consecutive World DMC Team titles, Plus One's World DMC Champion and World Vestax Champion titles, Prime Cut's back to back World ITF Scratching crowns, and countless showcases and gigs all over the world.

DJ HYPE

Essentially Hype is to drum and bass as Afrika Bambaata was to the development of hip-hop. He first became involved in music through the legendary Shut Up and Dance sound system, like many before him his interest growing from physically building the speakers that made up the rig to DJ-ing, spinning reggae, house and hip hop throughout the eighties. As time passed, his skills behind the turntable grew to the extent of winning the London heat of the 1989 DMC’s and going on to represent Britain in the European championships.” Now he has toured all over the world; Spain, Canada, Switzerland, Estonia, you name it Hype has been there. 20 years on and Hype is still at the top of his game, with his mix CDs reaching sales of 100,000 units. Hype’s label True Playaz has been responsible from bringing through the new breed of drum and bass producers such as Hazard and Taxman. True Playaz at Fabric has been the longest running label night there and the last friday of the month has been a permanent fixture in diaries since 2001.

NOISIA

http://www.myspace.com/denoisia

Noisia (the word VISION rotated 180 degrees) consists of three guys; Nik Roos, Martijn van Sonderen and Thijs de Vlieger from groningen (Holland). Acquainted through the small graffiti community in the school they all went to, Nik and Thijs made friends in 1998 and started making music to kill time and have a laugh. Soon after their first confrontation with drum 'n bass, they started digging into it, and gradually making music just for fun evolved into a serious obsession to make good dnb. Besides drum 'n bass Nik Martijn and Thijs also have other musical projects, a downtempo album is in the making, they have done music for (short) films and there are a couple of releases of house productions/remixes planned. Recently more liquid / melodic tunes under the 'Drifter' guise have been signed to Metalheadz and Shogun Audio with more to come...

LOEFAH (dmz)

A few facts we've learnt about Dubstep pioneer and dmz founder Loefah. Rather than being birthed like a normal child, Loefah instead punched his way out of his mother's womb. Shortly thereafter he grew a beard. The chief export of Loefah is pain. Loefah sold his soul to the devil for his rugged good looks and unparalleled martial arts ability. Shortly after the transaction was finalized, Chuck roundhouse kicked the devil in the face and took his soul back. The devil, who appreciates irony, couldn't stay mad and admitted he should have seen it coming. They now play poker every second Wednesday of the month. Loefah can make a woman climax by simply pointing at her and saying "booya". If you can see Loefah, he can see you. If you can't see Loefah you may be only seconds away from death. When Loefah sends in his taxes, he sends blank forms and includes only a picture of himself, crouched and ready to attack. Loefah has not had to pay taxes ever.
Be afraid of but don't miss the experience that is Loefah.

CHEF (fwd)

http://www.myspace.com/dj_chef

Chefal is a resident at the two pioneering Dubstep nights in London DMZ and FWD and one of Bristols’ top Nights Hench which has now moved to a monthly at The Tube. Chefal is also a resident at club nights outside of the UK including Slam It! which is a bi-monthly event in Helsinki, Finland and also Voodoo People in Amsterdam, Holland and All Out Dubstep in Sweden! Chefal hooked up with Benga and Skream many years back through Big Apple Records (Croydon) and has been the main DJ in the crew, Smooth Kriminals since so Benga and Skream could concentrate on the production side of things but watch out for some beats from Chefal soon. Chefal rinses out the freshet dubz first from everybody who’s sound he's feeling including... Benga and Skream, Digital Mystikz, Loefah, L.D, Plastician just to name a few.

KUTZ

Some of you may not be familiar with the sound of fresh new talent, Kutz hailing from CROYDON aka the dubstep mecca!!, has been a busy bee deep in the studio producing tunes for some years now, some of which have been co-produced alongside his buddies Skream and Benga. Kutz' track 'Twilight Zone' featured on Skream's latest mix CD, 'Watch The Ride!' which became one of the highlights of the mix. Kutz also recently guested on Skream's infamous radio show 'The Stella Sessions' on Rinse FM to roaring success. Kutz also co-produced the 'Ill Kut Ya' with Benga, which has been blowing up dances on the underground dubstep scene for some time now and appears on Benga's latest offering for Tempa 'Benga!'

RAGGASAURUS

http://www.myspace.com/theraggasaurus

Oxford based band Raggasaurus formed just over a year ago. In there short existance Raggasaurus have formed a unique niche fusing traditional sounds of Tsunisian/Arabic music with the laid back vibe of dub and reggae. They embrace the true spirit of the Cowley area and have brought two of Cowleys’ biggest cultural elements together. With bookings coming in fast the interest grows around them daily. Word has got about that there is a new band with a new sound and we don’t think it will be long until we see released music from these guys getting some serious attention.

SMALL KID & TMS

Small kid started as an old man and has been regressing ever since. If you have ever wondered why small kid’s work has been getting closer to the floor you now know. Every day small kid shrinks a further 5mm and we are bringing in extra step ladders to get to those hard to reach places. Before small kid shrinks beyond existance he has managed to fit in printed design and illustration, custom designed canvases, spray paint murals and workshops for Detonate promotions, Red Bull, Raleigh Bikes and Ryouki. Small kid will be battling it out canvas to canvas pen to pen in the live graffiti room with local graffiti crew TMS.
